
Graceland Track & Field Posts Strong Showing at Bearcat Invite
LAMONI, Iowa – The Graceland University indoor track and field teams delivered competitive performances at the 2025 Bearcat Invite on February 7-8 at Hughes Fieldhouse on the campus of Northwest Missouri State University. The Yellowjackets squared off against a deep field of NAIA, NCAA Division II, and NJCAA athletes, producing several season-best marks and top-10 finishes.
Men's Highlights
Sprints & Hurdles:
- Elias Walker clocked 7.16 seconds in the 60-meter dash, finishing 55th in a deep field.
- Brice Taylor delivered a standout performance in the 200-meter dash, finishing 9th overall in 22.14 seconds, tying with teammate Robert Robinson, both recording season-best marks.
- Taylor also competed in the 400-meter dash, running 50.75 seconds, a significant improvement from his previous meet.
- West Tymar crossed the line in 56.34 seconds in the 400 meters, continuing his progress this season.
Mid-Distance & Distance:
- Kaleb Campbell ran a season-best in the 800-meter run, clocking 2:01.47, placing in the top 25 of the event.
- Brandon Douglas ran 4:29.89 in the mile, marking a strong effort in a competitive field.
- The distance medley relay team recorded a time of 10:47.62, placing 10th overall.
Field Events:
- Jordan Perkins hit 6.57 meters (21-6 ¾) in the long jump, finishing 12th.
- Sam Thornton cleared 1.90 meters (6-2 ¾) in the high jump, marking his best effort of the indoor season.
Women's Highlights
Sprints & Hurdles:
- Vashansti Glover competed in both the 60-meter dash (8.54 seconds) and 200-meter dash (28.49 seconds), showing consistency across both events.
- Grace Testerman posted a 30.37-second finish in the 200 meters and ran 1:10.43 in the 400 meters, continuing her development.
Mid-Distance & Distance:
- Emma McPherson ran a season-best 2:28.56 in the 800 meters, placing in the top 30.
- The women's 4x400 relay team ran 4:10.78, securing a top-15 finish.
Field Events:
- Ariana Johnson placed 15th in the triple jump, hitting a mark of 10.29 meters (33-9 ¼).
- Morgan Edwards cleared 1.50 meters (4-11) in the high jump, placing 13th.
Looking Ahead
The Yellowjackets will return to competition at the Heart of America Athletic Conference Indoor Championships on Saturday, February 14, hosted at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri.
