
Graceland Track and Field Posts Strong Performances at Mel Tjeerdsma Invite
MARYVILLE, Mo. – The Graceland University men's and women's track and field teams delivered solid performances at the Mel Tjeerdsma Invitational, competing against a strong field of NAIA and NCAA athletes. Several Yellowjackets posted notable marks across various events as they continue their indoor season.
Men's Results
The men's team showcased depth across multiple disciplines, with standout performances in the sprints, hurdles, and field events.
In the 60-meter dash, sophomore Kaeden Monday led the Yellowjackets with a time of 7.02 seconds, placing ninth overall. Freshman Elias Walker clocked in at 7.24, followed by senior Al-Farouk Salako (7.40) and sophomore Caden Israel (7.47).
In the 200 meters, senior Robert Robinson delivered an impressive run, finishing eighth with a time of 22.10. Monday followed with a 22.86 finish, placing 23rd. Walker (23.63), sophomore Tymar West (24.84), and Salako (24.86) rounded out the Graceland efforts.
Robinson also excelled in the 300 meters, earning a fourth-place finish in 34.91 seconds. West crossed the line in 39.03 for 21st place, while freshman Jonathon Johnson completed the event in 41.32.
Sophomore Caden Israel led the team in the 400 meters, posting a time of 52.77 to secure 13th place.
In the hurdles, freshman Jeremia Carrasquillo recorded a time of 9.57 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles, placing 15th overall, while Johnson followed with a time of 9.61. Carrasquillo also performed well in the high jump, clearing 1.80m (5'10.75") to finish 17th.
The field events saw freshman Elias Walker land a best mark of 6.01m (19'8.75") in the long jump, securing 19th place. Sophomore Tymar West followed with a jump of 5.83m (19'1.5").
The throwing events featured standout performances from sophomore Luke Hass, who threw 10.95m (35'11.25") in the shot put, finishing 31st. Sophomore Frankie Vigil posted the top weight throw mark for the Yellowjackets with a distance of 11.44m (37'6.5"), placing 35th overall.
Women's Results
The Graceland women's team saw competitive efforts in the sprinting events, with junior Ambar Fulgencio leading the way.
In the 200 meters, Fulgencio posted a time of 27.42, placing 32nd overall. Freshman Kylie Overkamp finished in 29.60, and junior Grace Testerman recorded a 30.52 finish.
Looking Ahead
Both Graceland men's and women's track and field teams will return to action on Saturday, December 13, at the Finals Week Invite hosted by St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa.
