Graceland Men’s Track and Field Gains Momentum at Central Methodist Invitational
FAYETTE, Mo. — The Graceland University Yellowjackets men's outdoor track and field team produced strong performances across multiple events Saturday at the 2025 Central Methodist Invitational, hosted at Davis Field.
Graceland athletes recorded season-best marks and continued to sharpen their skills as the team approaches the critical final stretch of the outdoor season.
In the sprints, senior Robert Robinson placed 19th in the 200 meters, running a time of 22.03 seconds. Fellow senior Paul Marchand was close behind, finishing 24th with a mark of 22.29 seconds. Freshman Tael Jean finished 35th in 22.93 seconds, while freshman Elias Walker crossed in 36th at 23.16 seconds.
Sophomore Tymar West ran 23.61 seconds to place 46th overall, while senior Al-Farouk Salako posted a time of 24.28 seconds. Freshman Payton Miller finished at 24.41 seconds, Vincent Carcamo clocked 24.84 seconds, and sophomore Logan Mace came through at 26.24 seconds.
In the 100 meters, freshman Fidher Ramirez represented Graceland, placing 49th with a time of 12.03 seconds in a heavily wind-aided race.
The Yellowjackets showed depth in the mid-sprints, particularly with the team's strong showing in the 200 meters, against top-level NAIA and NCAA Division II competition.
"This weekend was important for us in terms of sharpening our race execution," said Graceland head coach Quinton Harley. "We saw our sprinters battle against tough fields and still improve. I'm very proud of the way our group competed today, and we know we're trending in the right direction."
In the distance events, sophomore Logan Mace also doubled back to compete in the 800 meters, recording a time of 2:27.25. The experience allowed Graceland's young distance crew valuable exposure heading into a pivotal stretch of the outdoor calendar.
Graceland's sprinters focused heavily on drive phases, transition mechanics, and maintaining velocity through the curve during the 200-meter races, improvements that Harley noted were key points of emphasis at recent training sessions.
In total, the Yellowjackets placed multiple athletes across sprint and mid-distance events, measuring themselves against strong competition from Central Methodist, Lincoln (Mo.), Cumberlands, and Mount Mercy, among others.
Field events were not contested by Graceland athletes at this invitational, allowing the program to concentrate efforts on refining race strategies and sprint mechanics.
The Graceland coaching staff emphasized patience and consistency, encouraging athletes to focus on split management and relaxation in the final meters of their races.
The Central Methodist Invitational served as an important measuring stick for the Yellowjackets, who are now preparing for a critical next step.
Graceland will return to action on Friday, April 11, competing at the Central Missouri Mule Relays hosted at Walton Stadium in Warrensburg, Missouri.
First events are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m..
