LAMONI, Iowa – Concordia College's forward Kierstynn Garner delivered a dominating performance, scoring all four goals for the Bulldogs in their 4-2 victory over the Graceland Yellowjackets at the Rasmussen Sports Complex on Wednesday.
Garner's offensive onslaught began early, finding the back of the net in the first minute of play. She continued her scoring streak, adding goals in the 35th and 45th minutes, securing a hat trick before halftime. Garner capped off her impressive performance with a fourth goal in the 73rd minute.
Graceland managed to respond with two goals of their own. Caitlin Lageman scored in the 33rd minute, assisted by Ishbel Wilson, and Emily Carmen found the net in the 71st minute with an assist from Chloe Montera.
Despite the Yellowjackets' efforts, Concordia controlled the tempo of the game, outshooting Graceland 6-5. Graceland goalkeeper Angela Banks made five saves throughout the match.
"I was happy with how we competed in tonight's game against a really good Concorida team," remarked head coach Randall Porter after the loss.
"Ultimately we made too many critical mistakes down the stretch and it cost us."
With this loss, Graceland's record moves to 2-1-1 on the season. The Yellowjackets will look to bounce back in their next match against St. Mary's University in Leavenworth, Kansas on Saturday night.
