Women’s Golf Competes at Simpson Fall Invite, Prepares to Host GU Invitational

INDIANOLA, Iowa – The Graceland University women's golf team competed at the Simpson Fall Invite on Wednesday, September 18, at Indianola Country Club in Indianola, Iowa. The Yellowjackets placed ninth overall with a team score of 467 (+183) in a competitive field featuring nine teams and over 50 individual golfers.

Leading the Yellowjackets was Cydney Stables, who carded an 86 (+15) to secure a 15th-place finish, her best result of the season. Chloe Buckallew also contributed with a round of 94 (+23), placing her in a tie for 32nd. Rylee Zimmerman followed with a 106 (+35), while Ayrianna Teachout rounded out the lineup with a 181 (+110).

Head coach Kevin Brunner commended the team's determination in a competitive setting. "We've seen a lot of growth from this group, and every tournament is another step forward. Cydney continues to be a steady presence for us, and I'm excited to see the team build on this experience as we head into our own event this weekend," Brunner said.

William Penn University's B Team claimed the team title with a total score of 327 (+43). Individually, William Penn's Sarah Gutuza captured medalist honors with a 76 (+5), leading the field by four strokes.

The Yellowjackets will return to action this Saturday, September 21, as they host the GU Invitational at Lamoni Golf and Country Club. This annual event provides an opportunity for the team to compete on home turf and further develop its performance as the season progresses.
