Women’s Basketball Fell to Central Methodist

Fayette, Mo. - The Graceland University Women's Basketball team took on the Central Methodist University Eagles. The Yellowjackets were defeated by the Eagles, 65-58 Moving to 10-14 on the season and 8-12 in the Heart

Graceland (10-14, 8-12) | Central Methodist (12-12, 9-11)
Quarter 1: Graceland 18 | Central Methodist 15
Bryanna Griffith would kick the game off by draining a layup, followed by an Alan Swift free throws (4-2). The Eagles would trade the lead, putting up five points. Griffiths (five points) would even the score with a three and push for a nine-point jump; baskets from Trinity Greenwood (two points) and Swift (two points). Minutes later, Avery Walker-Henry would drain a two to add a six-point lead (15-9). The Eagles would close their deficit to three points at the end of the third quarter (18-15).

Quarter 2: Graceland 19 | Central Methodist 18
The Eagles would continue their scoring run to even the score 18-18. Heaven Mbaruk evened the score moments later at 20-20, followed by Vegas Camacho to take the lead. Graceland would add four from Camry Dillie and Sophia Rodriguez. Avery Walker-Henry would close the second quarter by draining two points for a four-point lead over the Eagles heading onto halftime, 37-33.

Quarter 3: Graceland 14 | Central Methodist 18
Heaven Mbaruk would break the scoreless third quarter at the 7:45 minute mark from the field (39-33), and Trinity Greenwood would follow moments later (41-33). Both teams would trade baskets. Central Methodist would sink back-to-back threes to take the lead (47-45). Alana Swift would even the score from the line (47-47). Bryanna Griffiths would even the score from the field, with Swift adding the advantage (51-49). The Eagles sank two points late to head into the final quarter with a score of 51-51.

Quarter 4: Graceland 7 | Central Methodist 14
Central would add an eight-point scoring run to take the lead (59-51). Alana Swift would break the run from the line, and moments later, Heaven Mbaruk would add three from a made jumper and a free throw, closing the Graceland deficit to four points (60-56). The Eagles would hold their lead to take a 65-58 victory.
