Women’s Basketball Overcame Baker in the Fourth Quarter

Baldwin City, Kan. - The Graceland University Women's Basketball team took on the Baker University Wildcats. The Yellowjackets defeated the Wildcats, 81-74 Moving to 10-13 on the season and 8-11 in the Heart

Graceland (10-13, 8-11) | Baker (3-21, 3-17)
Quarter 1: Graceland 19 | Baker 24
Graceland would put the first points up from a Heaven Mbaruk free throw, followed by Vegas Camacho from the deep (4-2). The Wildcats would take the first lead from a five-point jump (12-8); moments later, they would add seven to the board (19-10). A three from Camry Dillie would break the run. Claudinae Hurt (layup) and Alana Swift (jumper) would close the first quarter with baskets (24-19).

Quarter 2: Graceland 24 | Baker 22
Trinity Greenwood (jumper) and Camry Dillie (layup) would close the deficit to three points. Baker would answer to put four points up (30-23). At the halfway point, Sophia Rodriguez would drain a basket from the arches to start an eight-point jump (36-33), baskets from Alana Swift (two points) and Bryanna Griffiths (three points). Rodriguez would close the second quarter, putting up three and closing the deficit to three points. The Wildcats lead 46-43 heading into halftime.

Quarter 3: Graceland 17 | Baker 18
Baker would open the third quarter with a six-point jump (54-45). Both teams would trade baskets. Late in the quarter, a jumper by Trinity Greenwood (four points) would start an 8-1 run, baskets from Camry Dillie (four points). The Wildcats would hold a four-point advantage heading into the last quarter (64-60).

Quarter 4: Graceland 21 | Baker 10
Graceland would hold Baker scoreless for just over six minutes of play. The Yellowjackets would put up a 13-point jump to take a nine-point lead (73-64). The run would start from a Heaven Mbaruk (two points) jumper, baskets from Alana Swift (seven points), and Trinity Greenwood (four points). Wildcats would answer with a four-point jump (73-68). Swift and Bryana Griffiths would end the game by making free throws to take the seven-point victory over the Wildcats, 81-74.
