Women’s Basketball Halted William Penn

Lamoni, Iowa. - The Graceland University Women's Basketball team took on William Penn University Statesmen. The Yellowjackets defeated the Statesmen, 75-62. Moving to 8-8 on the season and 6-6 in the Heart

Graceland (8-8, 6-6) | William Penn (3-13, 2-10)
Quarter 1: Graceland 19 | William Penn 18
Both teams would come out of the gate to trade points. William Penn would take the first lead with an 11-2 run (13-6). The run would be broken by a Claudinae Hurt charity stripes (13-11). Melody Alo would sink a late three, followed by a three-pointer by Avery Walker-Henry to take the one-point advantage over the Statesmen, 19-18.

Quarter 2: Graceland 20 | William Penn 19
The Statesmen would open the second quarter draining a layup, and the Yellowjackets would answer a second later with their own layup by Alana Swift (21-20). Both teams would trade baskets and put up point for point. Graceland would close the second quarter leading by two from a Trinity Greenwood charity stripe, 39-37.

Quarter 3: Graceland 21 | William Penn 13
The Yellowjackets would put on the fire midway through the third quarter with a 15-2 collection. Baskets from Avery Walker-Henry (six points), Alana Swift (seven points), and Heaven Mbaruk (two points). Mbaruk would end the third quarter draining a layup and put the Yellowjackets in a 10-point advantage (60-50).

Quarter 4: Graceland 15 | William Penn 12
Camry Dillie would sink a basket from the arches to open the fourth quarter (63-50), and minutes later, Bryanna Griffiths would sink a jumper to push a 14-point lead over William Penn. Graceland would hold their advantage over William Penn and end the game from a Heaven Mbaruk layup for a 75-62 victory.
