Women’s Basketball Conquered RV Central Methodist

Lamoni, Iowa - The Graceland University Women's Basketball team took on the Central Methodist University Eagles. The Yellowjackets defeated by the Eagles, 69-60. Moving to 4-6 on the season and 2-4 in the Heart

Quarter 1: Graceland 23 | Central Methodist 9
The Yellowjackets would come out of the gate strong, taking an 11-0 lead in the first five minutes of play, baskets from Alana Swift, Avery Walker-Henry, and Kymani Freeman. The Eagles would get on the board with a free throw (11-1). Freeman would close the first quarter from the deep to push Graceland to lead by 14 (23-9).

Quarter 2: Graceland 13 | Central Methodist 17
The Eagles would open the second quarter to put up five points (23-14), and a three from Sophia Rodriguez would break the run (26-14). Central would collect eight and close their deficit (31-23). Heaven Mbaruk would put up back-to-back baskets (33-23) and close the second quarter from the line. Graceland would lead by ten heading into the halftime (36-26).

Quarter 3: Graceland 15 | Central Methodist 23
The Eagles would work to close their deficit and take the lead from a nine-point collection (43-42), and moments later, they would increase their lead to two points (47-44). A jumper by Trinity Greenwood would break the collection. Graceland would retake their lead to end the third quarter 51-49, with baskets from Alana Swift and Kymani Freeman.

Quarter 4: Graceland 18 | Central Methodist 11
Central Methodist would even the score 51-51, and both teams would trade points. Alana Swift would even the score 57-57; moments later, Kymani Freeman would take the lead from back-to-back layups (61-57). The Yellowjackets would hold their lead in the remaining three minutes of play, seeing baskets from Trinity Greenwood, Avery Walker-Henry and Swift for a 69-60 victory.
