Todd Verwers enters his 8th season as the Head Softball Coach at his alma mater…Graceland University. At Graceland he has an overall record of 131-175. His 131 wins ranks 2nd all-time behind legendary coach William “Duke” Dudek.

His arrival marked a return to Graceland University where he was a member of the baseball team (HC: Jeff Douglas) and the football team (HC: William “Duke” Dudek) during the early 1990s. Coach Verwers has also served the Graceland University football program as an assistant coach (HC: Jeff Douglas) and the Graceland University softball program as an assistant coach (HC: Brynn Braddock) prior to taking the program over in the Fall 2016.

Verwers spent 3 seasons as the Head Softball Coach at Marshalltown Community College where he had a 61-84 record. He was also an assistant coach for the softball program at Southwestern CC (HC: Lindsay Stumpff) for 4 seasons.

Coach Verwers has also enjoyed a very successful high school coaching career in Iowa, particularly in the sport of softball. In 14 seasons he has compiled an overall record of 372-102 and garners 10 Coach of the Year accolades.

Todd also had a stellar Mens Fastpitch Softball playing career after his playing days at Graceland University. In a career that spanned 20+ years, his teams won several district, state, and regional championships. He officially retired from playing full-time in 2009 after a 4-year run with the Quad City Sox. His last official International Softball Congress win was a 1-0 shutout over renowned ISC Midwest power Dolan & Murphy of Aurora, Illinois. Todd credits much of his coaching success to the style of play he has implemented from his fastpitch playing days.

Coach Verwers resides in Prole, IA with his wife Denise. The couple has three children who all have attended Graceland University...son Trent Verwers (Brooke), Riley Verwers-Carimiro (Evaristo), and Kaley Verwers. They are also blessed with a granddaughter Valerie and a grandson Sebastian.
