Graceland Rodeo Finishes Inaugural Season at Cyclone Stampede
LAMONI - This past weekend, the Graceland University Rodeo team participated in the ISU Cyclone Stampede hosted by Iowa State University. The rodeo was in Ames, Iowa and was a two-day event.
Graceland's rodeo success was highlighted by Grant Gansmer who secured a spot in the College National Rodeo Finals in steer wrestling. Head rodeo coach Fenton Nelsen commented, "Grant has worked very hard all year to accomplish his goal of making the national finals."
In the Cyclone Stampede, Grant came back in the tenth spot to the short round and was 9.1 seconds in the long round. He had an impressive 5.5 second run splitting the win in the short round to earn his spot as part of the top three in the Great Plains Region.
Throughout the entire 2020-21 season, Grant was able to make the short round in every single competition the Yellowjackets had this year. Gansmer will go on to compete in the College National Rodeo Finals in June in Casper, Wyoming.
