
Graceland Runners Excel at NAIA Marathon Nationals, Women Secure Top-Five Team Finish
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Graceland University marathon team concluded its 2024 season with strong performances at the NAIA Marathon Nationals on Saturday. Competing against elite collegiate runners, the Yellowjackets showcased resilience and determination, highlighted by a 5th-place finish for the Graceland women's team among NAIA programs.
Logan Harder led the Yellowjackets' men's team with a stellar performance, finishing 20th overall in the national field. Isaac Ramirez followed with a solid effort, crossing the line in 49th, contributing to the men's strong showing at the prestigious event.
On the women's side, Mickenzie Fisher delivered a standout performance, finishing 30th overall with a time of 3:30:39. Fisher set the tone for the Graceland women, who were bolstered by the efforts of Jordyn Fischer, who placed 41st, and Sierra Davenport, who completed the race in 46th place with a time of 4:07:25. Ella Gerlach, unfortunately, was unable to finish, but her contributions throughout the season were a key factor in the team's success.
The Graceland women's team capped their season with a remarkable 5th-place finish among NAIA programs, a testament to the depth and competitiveness of the Yellowjackets.
"I'm extremely proud of how everyone competed today," said Head Coach Tom Shore. "It was some very high-level competition, and all of our athletes gave it their all. We are excited to see what we can accomplish when we return next year!"
This event marks the conclusion of the Yellowjackets' 2024 distance season. The team now transitions to final exams and family time during the holiday season, with plans to regroup in January and begin preparation for the 2025 track and distance campaigns.
