GU Wrestling Dominates in Dual Against William Woods

LAMONI, Iowa – Graceland University men's wrestling asserted its dominance in a commanding 50-6 dual victory over William Woods University on Tuesday night. The Yellowjackets showcased a balanced attack, with multiple wrestlers securing victories through technical falls, pins, and major decisions.

The dual began with Graceland seizing early momentum, capitalizing on two forfeits at 125 and 141 pounds. Clemente Delgado and TJ Smith were awarded the wins, giving Graceland an early 12-0 lead. At 133 pounds, Riley Harger delivered a decisive performance, earning a 17-2 technical fall over Easton DeMillia. This extended the Yellowjackets' lead to 17-0.

Caden Lopez followed at 149 pounds with a clinical display, securing a 15-0 technical fall against Hudson Karr, further emphasizing Graceland's technical prowess. Though Brayden Phillips fell at 157 pounds by pin to Whit Nichols, Graceland quickly regained control in the middleweights.

At 165 pounds, Invi Bella pinned Josef Planansky to widen the Yellowjacket lead. Jett Nelson continued the momentum at 174 pounds, dominating Elijah Brocksmith en route to a 17-3 major decision. Graceland's upper weights carried the torch with Joseph Teguia receiving a forfeit at 184 pounds, John Schuttler pinning Dominic Mullin at 197 pounds, and heavyweight Kazz Hyson finishing the dual with a pin over Camarion Raino.

"The confidence we saw from our team tonight is one we expect to see each opportunity to compete," said Head Coach Zack Mullins. "We will continue to get better, grow and learn from this experience, and keep believing in our preparation."

Graceland demonstrated comprehensive team strength with five matches ending by pin or technical fall, ensuring a decisive win. The victory marked a significant confidence boost as the team looks to build momentum through the season.

Next up, the Yellowjackets will compete against Central Methodist University on Tuesday, December 3, in Fayette, Missouri. The team plans to enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday before resuming preparation for this pivotal dual meet.
