Graceland Men’s Soccer Adds Standout Defender Owen Dye to 2025 Class
Graceland University is excited to announce the addition of Owen Dye to the Yellowjackets men's soccer program. A smart and physical center back and defensive midfielder from Gardner-Edgerton High School in Gardner, Kansas, Owen brings high-level defensive instincts and a competitive edge to the Yellowjackets' back line.
Owen has had a standout high school and club career, excelling at both center back and defensive midfield. He was named to the All-Sunflower League First Team, earned Defensive Player of the Year honors twice at GEHS, and served as team captain during his senior year. He anchored a record-setting defense that helped Gardner-Edgerton log the most shootouts and fewest goals allowed in program history.
Off the field, Owen is a well-rounded student-athlete. In addition to soccer, he competed as a kicker for the state finalist football team. He enjoys movies, video games, cooking, and spending time with family and friends. A strong man of faith, Owen draws inspiration from God, his parents, and close friends. One of his guiding scriptures comes from Ephesians 6:13:
"Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm."
Head Coach Bryan Courtney shared his excitement about Owen's commitment:
"We are excited to have Owen join our program. He brings a much-needed level of physicality and athleticism. His versatility allows him to be successful in either defense or the midfield. And in continuing the theme of this cycle, Owen also brings an attitude and work ethic that fits perfectly with our culture. Welcome to the family, Owen."
With his elite defensive abilities, leadership qualities, and strong character, Owen Dye is a perfect addition to Graceland's vision and culture. His arrival will reinforce the Yellowjackets' defensive core and elevate the program's standard of excellence.
Welcome to the Graceland family, Owen!
