Men's Basketball Break Deadlock Against the Wildcats in Double Overtime

Lamoni, Iowa – The Graceland University Men's Basketball team took on the Culver-Stockton College Wildcats. The Yellowjackets defeated the Wildcats in double overtime, 81-74. They move to 11-7 on the season and are 6-6 in the Heart.

Graceland (11-7; 6-6) | Culver-Stockton (7-10; 3-9)
Half 1: Graceland 25 | Culver-Stockton 25
The Yellowjackets were the first to put points on the board (4-0). The Wildcats would find their way to the lead with back-to-back points (4-5), and they could create the first lead by seven points (6-13). Mario Johnson would give the start of the Yellowjacket 11-0 run with a made layup (19-15). With three minutes on the clock, C.J. Wilson would tie the score 23-23 with a made layup and close out the half's scoring to tie the score was Seth Compas's charity strip (25-25).
Half 2: Graceland 28 | Culver-Stockton 28
The Wildcats would get on the board first, pushing a seven-point, 25-32, and working to hold their largest lead over the Yellowjackets of eight points at the 8-minute mark (36-44). The Yellowjackets would close the gap to four points from a C.J. Wilson's layup and a tip-in by Aleksa Markovic (40-44). With just under a minute of play remaining Seth Compas would close the gap to one with a tip-in, and a foul from the Wildcats would push for a Graceland with a Compas free-throw. The tie would be 53-53 heading into overtime.
Overtime 1: Graceland 10 | Culver-Stockton 10
The Yellowjackets would come out aggressive, pulling an advantage over the Wildcats (57-54). The lead would change four times and tie twice. The Wildcats lead with under 20 seconds on the clock, and a clutch layup by Winslow Martin tied the score. The score is 63-63 heading into double overtime.
Overtime 2: Graceland 18 | Culver-Stockton 11
Seth Compas would sink a three-pointer right from the start, creating the advantage. Graceland would hit 4-5 field goals (80 percent), 2-2 three-pointers (100 percent) and 8-8 free throws (100 percent). The Wildcats would try to close their deficit, but the Yellowjackets found their groove to take the victory, 81-74.
