Men's Basketball Takes Down Falcons.

Lamoni, Iowa – The Graceland University men's basketball team defeated the Friends University Falcons., 79-57. Graceland moves to 2-1 on the season.

 

Graceland (2-1) vs. Friends (1-3)

Half 1: Graceland 31 | Friends 33

The Falcons were able to create the first lead of the game with a 12-2-point score run. Halfway through the half, the Falcons would lead by four. A layup by C.J. Wilson would send the Yellowjackets on a collection run to tie the score (20-20). A scoreless two minutes would end from the layup by JY Smith for the lead. With another lead change, a dunk by Seth Compas would tie the score (31-31), but the Falcons would snatch a last-second (00:26-minute mark) layup to take the advantage heading into the half (31-33).

Half 2: Graceland 48 | Friends 24

In the first five minutes of the second half, points were traded back and forth. A jumper made by Trent Daughtry would shift the tide, and the Yellowjackets would take the lead. Late in half, Graceland would push their advantage over the Falcons; their run would start from the jumper by C.J. Wilson and move to a 19-point lead (67-48) and solidify their position over the Falcons for the victory. The Yellowjackets would shoot over 50-percent in all three shots; field goal (51.3 – percent), three-pointers (57.1 – percent) and free throws (88.9 – percent).

The Yellowjackets would double the points Friends scored in the second had (48 – GU to 24 – Friends).

37-32 – Graceland had five more rebounds than Friends.

26-6 – The Yellowjackets had 20 more bench points than the Falcons.
