Gerald Monroe Named Heart (North) Offensive Player of the Year

Lamoni, IA – Graceland University wide receiver Gerald Monroe, a senior from Glenn Heights, Texas, has been named the Heart of America Athletic Conference (North) Offensive Player of the Year following a record-breaking season that solidified his position as one of the premier players in NAIA football. Monroe led the nation in every major receiving category, capping a standout career with one of the greatest individual performances in program history.

Monroe's extraordinary 2024 campaign included 84 receptions, 1,562 receiving yards, and 22 touchdowns, leading the NAIA in each statistic. Averaging 156.2 receiving yards per game and 18.6 yards per catch, Monroe was the cornerstone of Graceland's offense, which powered the team to a 7-4 overall record and a 5-1 mark in conference play.

Key Highlights of Monroe's Season:

  • Historic Start: In the season opener against Doane University (NE), Monroe delivered a performance for the ages, recording 16 catches for 387 yards and five touchdowns. His 387 receiving yards set a new NAIA single-game record, breaking a mark that had stood since 1990.
  • Reception Leader: Monroe's 84 receptions displayed his ability to consistently make plays under pressure.
  • Yardage King: His 1,562 receiving yards set program records and placed him atop the NAIA leaderboards.

Monroe's efforts propelled the Yellowjackets to rank among the most productive offenses in the Heart of America Athletic Conference (North), highlighted by 40 passing touchdowns, the highest in the conference.
