Bio
Kat Albertson enters her second season as the head coach of the Graceland University dance program, bringing a wealth of experience in competitive dance, coaching, and program development.
A Grand Rapids, Michigan, native, Albertson began dancing at the age of four and quickly advanced into competitive dance by the age of seven. She trained and competed nationally in multiple dance styles before continuing her career at Central Michigan University, where she further honed her skills in dance and leadership.
Upon graduating, Albertson took over as the head coach at East Kentwood High School (MI), leading the program for four seasons. Under her leadership, East Kentwood secured two regional championships, a national runner-up finish, and a DTU Battle Cup victory, marking the first such accomplishments in the program’s history. In her final year, the team was formally recognized by the Board of Education for its commitment to excellence.
Following her tenure at East Kentwood, Albertson relocated to Salt Lake City, Utah, before realizing her passion remained in coaching and leadership. She transitioned to the collegiate level, joining Graceland University as the program’s head coach.
In her first season at Graceland, Albertson led the Yellowjackets to historic achievements, guiding the team to its first-ever State Championship and an NAIA National Championship qualification. The Yellowjackets finished 7th in the nation, solidifying the program’s growing presence on the national stage.
Now entering her second season, Albertson is committed to continuing the growth and success of the Yellowjackets dance program, striving to develop a championship-level culture at Graceland.
