Bio
Ryan Baca enters his first season as an assistant coach for the Graceland University baseball team, bringing with him a distinguished background as both a player and coach. Baca is poised to make an immediate impact on the Yellowjackets' pitching staff, leveraging his extensive experience in developing elite-level pitchers.
"Ryan’s expertise in pitching and his ability to develop players is a major addition to our program," said newly minted head baseball coach, Brad Payne. "His experience both on the field as an All-American and in the dugout as a coach will elevate our pitching staff and provide tremendous value to our student-athletes."
Baca’s playing career is highlighted by several accolades that showcase his talent on the mound. In 2015, while playing at Metropolitan State University of Denver, he tied the school record for wins in a season and earned First Team All-RMAC Pitcher honors. He followed this up with a standout season at Friends University in 2017, where he was named KCAC Pitcher of the Year, an All-American, and a First Team All-KCAC Pitcher. Baca’s exceptional performances led to his signing with the Tucson Saguaros of the Pecos League, where he began his professional career.
Before joining Graceland, Baca gained valuable coaching experience at several collegiate programs. Most recently, he served as the Head Pitching Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Hesston College, where he was responsible for developing pitching programs, overseeing recovery and arm care routines, and managing game strategies. His work at Hesston contributed to the team’s overall success and his influence on player development was widely recognized.
Baca’s coaching career also includes time at Friends University, where he served as an Assistant Pitching Coach. His responsibilities included leading pitching drills, implementing velocity programs, and assisting with outfield and catching drills. His hands-on approach to player development and attention to detail were critical in helping the program improve its overall pitching performance.
As he begins his tenure with Graceland University, Baca’s player development expertise, combined with his professional playing experience, will be key assets in shaping a strong and competitive Yellowjackets pitching staff. His contributions will bolster the team’s performance in the upcoming season and add to the growing success of Graceland’s baseball program.
