Baseball Wins Three of Four in Weekend Series Against Valley City State

KANSAS CITY, KS. – The Graceland University Yellowjackets took three out of four games against Valley City State over the weekend in a competitive series played in cold temperatures at the Homefield Complex. The two teams played doubleheaders on both Friday and Saturday, with Graceland showing resilience and strong performances across the series.

Graceland opened Friday's action with a 9-6 victory in Game 1, capitalizing on timely hitting and a solid pitching effort. Game 2 saw Valley City State edge out the Yellowjackets, 12-11, in nine innings on a walk-off base hit to split the day's results.

On Saturday, the Yellowjackets bounced back to sweep the doubleheader, securing a tight 3-2 win in Game 3 before closing the series with a 6-1 victory in seven innings in Game 4.

Head Coach Brad Payne emphasized the team's ability to adjust and compete throughout the weekend: "The guys continued to battle all weekend and made the adjustments needed to put pressure on Valley City. We had strong starting pitching this weekend, and our bullpen is showing some exciting improvement. Combined with timely hitting and good defense for this point of the season, we're moving in the right direction."
