Men’s Indoor Track and Field Opens Season at Mel Tjeerdsma Classic; 14 Top Ten Finishers
Maryville, Mo. – Graceland University Men's Indoor Track and Field team would open their 2023-24 season at the Mel Tjeerdsma Classic.
The Yellowjackets would have 14 top ten finishers. Joseph Alexander would finish first in Long Jump (7.17m) and earn NAIA "A" Standard. In second place; Michael Millslagle in High Jump (2.09m) would earn NAIA "A" Standard and Malachi Heywood in the 200-Meter Dash (22.27). Robert Robinson would place third in the 300-Meter Dash (35.17). Finishing in fourth place was Davy Bancey in Pole Vault (4.05m). Nolwen Ella-Menye (51.21) came in sixth and Malachi Heywood (51.24) placed seventh in the 400-Meter Dash.
In the Long Jump event; Paul Marchand (6.28m) placed seventh, Dantre Kennybrew (6.26m) finished eighth and Tymar West (6.18m) came in at tenth. In the 4x400 Relay; Graceland 'A' (3:28.25) came in fourth, Graceland 'B' (3:46.60) placed ninth and Graceland 'C' (3:51.77) finished tenth. Paul Marchand (36.50) would finish tenth in the 300-Meter Dash, surpassing a school record.
