Women’s Volleyball Swept Haskell

Lamoni, Iowa - The Graceland University women's volleyball team took on the Haskell Indian Nations University Fighting Indians. The Yellowjacket were victorious against the Indians, 3-0. Graceland moves to 8-16 on the season and remain 4-11 in conference.

Graceland (8-16) vs. Haskell (14-17)
Set 1: Graceland 25 | Haskell 22
Both teams came out competitively trading points. The Haskell would find the first lead (13-7). Back-to-back set-turning kills by Brenna Crabtree would push the Yellowjackets to an 11-3 rally (18-16); key points would come from Kaylee Baker (two kills), Arissa Carpenter (two kills), Ali Gillen (one kill), Kayla Watanabe (one kill) and blocks from Gillen and Baker. The Indians would retaliate and retake their lead 21-19. Graceland would snatch six of the remaining seven points to take set one, ending with blocks from Allison Long and Kayla Watanabe.

Set 2: Graceland 25 | Haskell 22
Both teams follow with a neck-and-neck set. Haskell would lead early. Graceland would work a four-point just to lead by one (16-15). Kills from Brenna Crabtree and Allison Long would give the Yellowjackets a two-point advantage (23-21), and a kill by Kaylee Baker would get set point. The Yellowjackets would take set two from a Haskell attack error.

Set 3: Graceland 25 | Haskell 13
The Yellowjackets found their fire taking control of the third set, leading by as many as 10 points. Graceland would work a hitting percentage of .316 with 15 kills on 38 attempts and would hold Haskell to seven kills on 36 attempts. Graceland would end the set with kills from Ella Thomas and Brenna Crabtree. Blocks from Ali Gillen and Ella Thomas would shut the Indians down.

The Yellowjackets will be back on their home court on Saturday, October 28 when they host the Grand View University Vikings. The start time is set for 7:00 PM. Prior to the game the Yellowjackets will honor their seniors.
