Women’s Volleyball Halted by Missouri Valley

Lamoni, Iowa - The Graceland University women's volleyball team took on the Missouri Valley College Vikings. The Yellowjacket were defeated by the Vikings, 3-0. Graceland moves to 5-14 on the season and 2-9 in conference.

Graceland (5-14, 2-9) vs. Missouri Valley (13-12, 5-6)
Set 1: Graceland 19 | Missouri Valley 25
Both teams would step to the floor competitively. The Vikings would get the first lead with a three-point rally (8-5). Hailey Kauweloa would set Arissa Carpenter for a rally-breaking kill. Missouri Valley would retaliate and increase their lead by 10 points (21-12). Graceland would get a four-point jump to close their deficit to five points (21-16). The Vikings would hold their lead to take set one.

Set 2: Graceland 21 | Missouri Valley 25
The Vikings would continue their fire and work a 9-5 advantage. A kill by Brenna Crabtree and an Addison Demesko ace would pull the Yellowjackets to a four-point deficit. Graceland would work a 7-1-point rally to close the gap to three points: key points from Crabtree, Kaylee Baker and Arissa Carpenter, with the serve by Demesko (23-20). The Vikings would snatch the remaining two points to take the second set.

Set 3: Graceland 25 | Missouri Valley 27
Graceland would continue their fire to trade the lead with the Vikings, neither team giving a sizable difference. Missouri Valley would take a three-point lead late in the set (20-17). With a kill by Arissa Carpenter and an Allison Long ace, the Yellowjackets would trail by one point. A crucial kill by Kayla Watanabe would close set point from the Vikings, and Graceland would tie 24-24 from a Shelby Jabour ace. The Vikings would stall the Yellowjackets and take the third set 27-25.
