Women’s Volleyball Stopped by Grand View

Des Moines, Iowa - The Graceland University women's volleyball team took on the Grand View University Vikings. The Yellowjacket were defeated by the Viking, 3-2. Graceland moves to 5-11 on the season and 2-6 in conference.

Graceland (5-11, 2-6) vs. Grand View (6-11; 6-3)
Set 1: Graceland 25 | Grand View 23
The Vikings would get the lead in the first set (7-3). A kill by Brenna Crabtree would propel the Yellowjackets to a six-point jump to retake the advantage (17-15) – keep points from an Addison Demesko ace and blocks by Allison Long and Kaylee Baker. Both teams would trade points to tie at 22-22. Graceland would take the set point with a Marlis Aviles ace, and a Crabtree kill would close the set.

Set 2: Graceland 25 | Grand View 17
The Vikings would open to lead with a 4-1 lead; a kill from Allison Long would break the run, followed by a turning point kill from Arissa Carpenter. Graceland would push the offensive front, taking the lead 10-6; critical points from Carpenter, Ali Gillen, Malia Kelly, Long and blocks by Gillen, Kaylee Baker and Carpenter. The Vikings would close the gap to two points (15-13). The Yellowjackets would continue their pressure to hit 0.435 with 13 kills on 23 attempts. Shelby Jabour would close the second set with an ace.

Set 3: Graceland 18 | Grand View 25
Graceland would open the third set with a 9-5 lead. The Vikings would retaliate with a four-point jump mid-set to take the lead (15-12); Addison Demesko would set for a rally-ending kill by Arissa Carpenter. Grand View would snatch the third set by taking five of the remaining six points.

Set 4: Graceland 23 | Grand View 25
Both teams would enter the fourth set trading points. The Yellowjackets would take a two-point lead from a four-point rally (8-6), key points from the service by Sierra Kauweloa, a kill from Brenna Crabtree and blocks by Allison Long and Kaylee Bake. The Vikings would close their deficit and tie 22-22. Grand View would steal the remaining three points.

Set 5: Graceland 12 | Grand View 15
Both teams would battle for the lead. The Vikings would capture the first lead with a four-point jump (11-7). Back-to-back kills from Brenna Crabtree would close the gap to two points: 13-11. Grand View would hold their advantage to take the victory.
