Women’s Volleyball Defeated by Mount Mercy

Cedar Rapids, Iowa - The Graceland University women's volleyball team took on the Mount Mercy (Iowa) University Mustangs. The Yellowjacket were defeated by the Mustangs 3-0. Graceland moves to 4-6 on the season.

Graceland (4-6, 1-1) vs. Mount Mercy (9-3, 2-0)
Set 1: Graceland 21 | Mount Mercy 25
The Mustangs would capitalize on GU errors to take the lead. The Yellowjackets would close their deficit and tie (8-8), and key points would come from an Arissa Carpenter kill, Marlis Aviles ace and an Allison Long kill. Both teams would stay competitive and trade points; the Mustangs would take the first set with back-to-back kills.

Set 2: Graceland 15 | Mount Mercy 25
Both teams came out in the same dynamic; Mount Mercy would take the first significant advantage with a six-point rally (11-5). The Mustangs would continue to grow their lead and hold an advantage of ten to take the second set.

Set 3: Graceland 19 | Clarke 25
The Yellowjackets would come out on fire to take the first points of the set, creating a distance of two points (4-1). Mount Mercy would answer to add five points (7-4), and Graceland would close their deficit to one point with a kill by Kaylee Baker from Sera Tofi. Mount Mercy would continue their offensive push and take the set's final three points.
