Women’s Volleyball Split on Day Two of the WP Jimmy John’s Tournament

Oskaloosa, Iowa - The Graceland University women's volleyball team took on the William Penn Jimmy John's Tournament and competed against the Tabor College Bluejays and were defeated 3-2. The Yellowjacket went up against the Hannibal-LaGrange University Trojans and were victorious 3-0. Graceland moves to 3-5 on the season.

Game 1:
Graceland (2-5) vs. Tabor (4-4)
Set 1: Graceland 23 | Tabor 26
Tabor would get the first lead after both teams traded points (10-6), and a Brenna Crabtree kill would break the run. The Yellowjackets would work to close their deficit and would tie first at 20-20 with key kills from Crabtree and Allison Long. The Bluejays would regain their advantage and hold it to take set one.

Set 2: Graceland 26 | Tabor 24
Both teams would start the second set competitively, going point for point. The Bluejays would get the first lead with a four-point rally (12-7). Brenna Crabtree would break the rally and start a Graceland point streak, with key points from Crabtree, Allison Long and Addison Demesko's service to claim the second set.

Set 3: Graceland 23 | Tabor 25
The Bluejays would take the first lead with a four-point rally. A kill from Arissa Carpenter would push the Yellowjackets to a five-point jump to lead by four (18-14). Tabor retaliated with a five-point jump to close the gap and take the lead and the set.

Set 4: Graceland 25 | Tabor 22
Graceland would come out explosive to lead from the start. They would comminute to add to the advantage. The Bluejays would close the gap to tie late in the set (18-18). The Yellowjackets would retake the late and end the set with Addison Demesko and Allison Long kills.

Set 5: Graceland 11 | Tabor 15
Tabor would take the lead first and reach 10 points first. Graceland would close their deficit, but the Bluejays would take the set.

Set 1: Graceland 22 | Hannibal-LaGrange 25
Graceland came out the gate to slowly add to their advantage (6-4); a Brenna Crabtree kill would start a four-point rally. The Trojans would retaliate to close their deficit and tie 22-22. Kills from Allison Long (two-kills) and Arissa Carpenter would end the first set in a victory.

Set 2: Graceland 25 | Hannibal-LaGrange 17
The Trojans would get on the board first, and the Yellowjackets would answer with a four-point jump to take the lead. Both teams would trade points. Later in the set, Graceland would push to close with a six-point rally, critical points from Hailey Kauweloa and Ella Thomas and three kills from Arissa Carpenter. Ella Thomas would end the set with a kill from the set by Addison Demesko.

Set 3: Graceland 25 | Hannibal-LaGrange 15
Graceland would take control over the third set to lead by ten late (24-14). The Yellowjackets would have a hitting percentage of 0.314, from 15 kills on 35 attempts. Graceland would take the set ending with an Arissa Carpenter kill for the victory.
