Women's Volleyball Stopped on Day One of the WP Jimmy John's Tournament

Oskaloosa, Iowa - The Graceland University women's volleyball team took on the William Penn Jimmy John's Tournament and took on the Waldorf University Warriors and were deafest 3-1. The Yellowjacket feel to the St. Ambrose University Fighting Bees, 3-0. Graceland moves to 2-4 on the season.

Game 1:
Graceland (2-3) vs. Waldorf (5-0)
Set 1: Graceland 25 | Waldorf 16
The Yellowjackets pushed to a 5-0 lead in a hurry. The Warriors would tie the match 10-10, and Graceland would retaliate by adding five from the service of Marlis Aviles. The Yellowjackets would continue to add their points, and kills from Allison Long, Ali Gillen, and Arissa Carpenter would contribute.

Set 2: Graceland 16 | Waldorf 25
The Warriors would come out to add their early lead of 6-2. The Yellowjackets would close the gap to two points with a kill from Arissa Carpenter from the set by Addison Demesko. Waldorf would continue to grow their advantage to take the second set.

Set 3: Graceland 13 | Waldorf 25
The Warriors continue their dynamic into the third set to lead by 14 (19-4). Kills from Arissa Carpenter and Brenna Crabtree and aces from Hailey Kauweloa and Allison Long would close the gap, but the Warrior advantage would be held.

Set 4: Graceland 22 | Waldorf 25
Graceland would come out into the fourth set on fire to take a 5-1 lead. The Warriors would close the gap to one, but a kill from Sierra Kauweloa would break their run. Waldorf would work to close their deficit and take the lead (19-12). The Yellowjackets would have key kills from Kayla Watanabe and back-to-back service aces from Sera Tofi. The Warriors would hold on to their lead for the victory.

Game 2
Graceland (2-4) vs. St. Ambrose (3-3)
Set 1: Graceland 20 | St. Ambrose 25
Graceland came out the gate on first to lead by six (12-6). The Fighting Bees would retaliate to tie 12-12. Both teams would trade points, and St. Ambrose would take advantage with a three-point jump and hold their lead to take the first set.

Set 2: Graceland 22 | St. Ambrose 25
The Yellowjackets would start ahead (5-3), and the Fighting Bees would push a six-point jump to lead by two. An Arissa Carpenter kill would cut the run short. St. Ambrose would reach set point first, back back-to-back kills from Brenna Crabtree would close the gap to two points. The Fighting Bees would hold to take the second set.

Set 3: Graceland 19 | St. Ambrose 25
Ambrose would get on the board first, an ace by Marlis Aviles would cut the run and kills from Ella Thomas and Sierra Kauweloa would tie the match (4-4). Both teams would trade the lead and tie. The Fighting Bees would snatch six of the remaining seven points for the victory.
