Women's Volleyball Concludes at the Missouri Valley Invite

Marshall, Mo. - The Graceland University women's volleyball team concludes at the Missouri Valley Invite and took on the Southwestern (Kan.) College Moundbuilders. The Yellowjackets would fall in the fifth set, 3-2 and would move to 2-2 on the season.

Brenna Crabtree would earn the Missouri Valley Invite First Team All-Tournament team and Arissa Carpenter would be named to the Second Team All-Tournament.

Graceland (2-2) vs. Southwestern (3-2)
Set 1: Graceland 25 | Southwestern 21
The Yellowjackets would pull an early lead of 5-2, with a key ace by Sierra Kauweloa. Graceland would continue to a five-point jump (16-9). The Moundbuilders would add a 10-2 scoring run, Brenna Crabtree and Arissa Carpenter would break the scoring run. Graceland would take six of the remaining seven points to snatch set 1.

Set 2: Graceland 25 | Southwestern 21
Both teams would continue the same dynamic and go point for point. Graceland would produce a nine-point jump to lead by six-points (16-10). Southwestern would respond to close their deficit to one point (19-18). The Yellowjackets would hold their lead for the second set.

Set 3: Graceland 16 | Southwestern 25
The Moundbuilders would come out hot to pull an 8-0 lead early, and would hold their highest advantage over the Yellowjackets at 13 points. Graceland would work to close their deficit but Southwestern would take the third set.

Set 4: Graceland 6 | Southwestern 25
The Moundbuilders would come out on the offensive to take the lead and hold it for the set, they would hold their highest advantage of 20-points.

Set 5: Graceland 13 | Southwestern 15
The Yellowjackets would come out hot to return the 7-0 advantage over the Moundbuilders. Southwestern would work to close the gap and take the victory.

The Yellowjackets will be back on the court when they travel to Oskaloosa, Iowa where they will compete in the William Penn Jimmy John's Tournament on Friday, September 1. They take on the Waldorf University Warriors, start time is set from 1:00 pm. At 5:00 pm they will take on the St. Ambrose University Fighting Bees at 5:00 pm.
