Women's Volleyball Dominates Pride.
Dubuque, Iowa- The Graceland University women's volleyball team took on the Clarke (Iowa) Pride. The Yellowjackets took down the Pride, 3-1 and move to 8-16 on the season and 3-10 in conference.
Graceland (8-16; 3-10) vs. Clarke (3-19, 0-15)
Set 1: Graceland 33 | Clarke 35
The Yellowjackets pulled out to an early lead (11-4). A four-point run took the Pride within two points, 15-13, with another run that tied with the Yellowjackets. Both teams fought to close the set; they tied eight times. Clarke was able to snatch the last two points with a kill and an ace.
Set 2: Graceland 25 | Clarke 10
The Yellowjackets fired out the gate, creating an early advantage. The Pride was able to shrink their deficit to five with a run. But Graceland returned the run with their five-point, holding the Pride to a disadvantage of 15 to close the set.
Set 3: Graceland 25 | Clarke 17
Both teams pulled out point for point, either allowing a significant lead. A kill from Sierra Kauweloa created the space they needed to claim the last six points. The Yellowjackets would have a hitting percentage of .273, with 13 kills off of 33 attempts.
Set 4: Graceland 26 | Clarke 24
Later in the set, the Pride found a groove halting the Yellowjackets from breaching the 20 points with a six-point run to close the gap to 3. Clarke would put up another 6-1 run to take the lead. Graceland was able to end the set with the kill by Arissa Carpenter.
