The Yellowjackets Come up Short to Wildcats

Lamoni, Iowa. -  The Graceland University women's volleyball team played host to the Culver-Stockton (Mo.) Wildcats. The Yellowjackets were defeated by the Wildcats, 1-3, they now move to 7-13 on the season and 2-7 in conference.

Graceland (3-13; 2-7) vs. Wildcats (10-5, 5-4)

Set 1: Graceland 25 | Wildcats 22

Graceland came back early from behind to stay competitive. A three-point run from the Wildcats pushed the Yellowjackets to answer with their own to create a two-point deficit. An ace from Mary Kelly late in the set gave the Yellowjackets the two-point advantage. They would lead the remainder of the set.

Set 2: Graceland 16 | Wildcats 25

The Wildcats came out to create an advantage leading by as much as eight. (18-10). Graceland would shrink their deficit to five, and despite the Yellowjackets hitting a .409 compared to the Wildcats .172, they would remain behind to finish off the set. 

Set 3: Graceland 28 | Wildcats 30

Culver-Stockton would come up to an early 5-0 lead. Graceland would retaliate with a five-point score run to take the lead (9-7). Both teams would trade the lead ten times and tie 13 times. The Wildcats were able to snatch four of the last five points to take the set.

Set 4: Graceland 16 | Wildcats 25

Culver-Stockton continued into their groove. With two six-point scoring runs (3-8; 7-14), they were able to create their lead. The Yellowjackets would answer with a four-point run from the serving of Izzi Smith, closing the gap to eight-points (11-19). The Wildcats advantage would give them the edge in the remainder of the set.
