The Yellowjackets Down Two at the Jimmy John’s Classic

Oskaloosa, Iowa. - The Graceland University women's volleyball team continued their play in the Jimmy john's Classic hosted by William Penn University. YellowJackets end the doubleheader by falling short to the Waldorf (Iowa) Viking Warriors and Trinity International (Ill.) Trojans. They are now 4-6 on the season.

Graceland (4-4) vs. Viking Warriors (6-0)

Set 1: Graceland 18 | Viking Warriors 25

The Viking Warriors raced to a 10-4 lead, but the YellowJackets cut their deficit to 16-13. Graceland fought point per point to close the gap to three (21-18); the Bobcats answered with a four-point run to take the set.

Set 2: Graceland 19 | Viking Warriors 25

Waldorf continued their play, taking advantage and the control. In the middle of the set, the Yellowjackets pushed a three-point run to come within a point. The Viking Warrior responded and snatched five of the last six points of the set. 

Set 3: Graceland 14 | Viking Warriors 25

In their groove, Walford found the lead and did not allow the gap to shrink. The Yellowjacket fought to gain a scoring run, but the Viking Warriors claimed the set.

Graceland (4-5) vs. Trojans (5-2)

Set 1: Graceland 19 | Trojans 25

The YellowJackets came out strong to start the match, scoring first. Both teams fought to get the advantage; a four-point run by the Trojans gave them the edge to take the first set.

Set 2: Graceland 21 | Trojans 25

The Yellowjackets came out hot, taking the early lead of 7-3. The Trojans close the gap to one point in the middle of the set. Graceland did not allow the lead to change for long (19-16). Trinity International was able to pull nine of the last 11 points to push past to claim the second set. 

Set 3: Graceland 17 | Trojans 25

Both teams came out of the gate on fire, trading the lead back ad forth. The Yellowjackets tied the match with a scoring run of 7-1 (16-16). The Trojans responded with their own 8-0 run to take the third set.
