Women’s Basketball Take Down Benedictine in Upset Victory on Senior Night

Lamoni, Iowa - The Graceland University Women's Basketball team took on the Benedictine College Ravens. The Yellowjackets defeated the Ravens, 66-65. Graceland will conclude their season with a overall record of 12-16 and 10-14 in the Heart Conference.

Quarter 1: Graceland 17 | Benedictine 20
The Yellowjackets would add back-to-back threes from Vegas Camacho and Bryanna Griffith (6-3). Both teams would trade points. Graceland would see baskets from Trinity Greenwood, Janiyah Davis, and Avery Walker-Henry. Benedictine would add five to take a three-point lead.

Quarter 2: Graceland 14 | Benedictine 12
Sophia Rodriguez would open the second quarter from the field. Alana Swift would even the score from the line (22-22), and Trinity Greenwood would take the lead with a layup. The Ravens would answer with six to add a four-point advantage (28-24). Rodriguez drained one from the deep to close the deficit. Camry Dillie would drain a buzzer-beater layup, and Graceland would trail by one heading into halftime with a score of 33-31.

Quarter 3: Graceland 19 | Benedictine 24
Both teams came out and traded baskets. At the 2-minute mark, Alana Swift would drain a layup to bring the score to a one-point difference, followed by one from the line to even the score. Benedictine would answer with a three-pointer (49-46). Graceland's Camry Dillie would return and sink a three to even the score. The Ravens would push with a four-point jump late in the quarter to lead by six at the end of the third quarter, 56-50.

Quarter 4: Graceland 23 | Benedictine 13
Alana Swift would drain 13 consecutive points to close the Graceland gap to one point (63-62). Bryanna Griffith would drain a layup and push for a five-point jump to take the advantage; Swift would contribute (three points). Both teams would trade baskets. Griffiths would sink a key jumper to even the score, followed by a dominating three-pointer to create a three-point lead (72-69). Janiyah Davis would drain the last point from the line for an upset victory over Benedictine, with a final score of 73-69.
