Women’s Basketball Topped Missouri Valley

Lamoni, Iowa. - The Graceland University Women's Basketball team took on the Missouri Valley College Vikings. The Yellowjackets defeated the Vikings, 64-48. Moving to 9-9 on the season and 7-7 in the Heart

Graceland (9-9, 7-7) | Missouri Valley (9-9, 7-7)
Quarter 1: Graceland 17 | Missouri Valley 10
The Yellowjackets would come out of the gate swiftly from an Alana Swift layup and would get a lead of 6-2; Trinity Greenwood would contribute (two points). The Vikings would close their gap to one (6-5), and Sophia Rodrigues would drain a basket from the deep 9-5). Within the last minutes of the first quarter, Greenwoods would add back-to-back layups to create a seven-point lead (17-10).

Quarter 2: Graceland 13 | Missouri Valley 9
The Vikings would open the second quarter with a layup at the 8:53-minute mark. Both teams would trade baskets, and points from Vegas Camacho and Heaven Mbaruk. Late in the quarter, the Yellowjackets would find a five-point jump started from the charity stripe by Mbaruk; Avery Walker-Henry would add her own charity strip, and Bryanna Griffith would sink a basket from the deep. Alana Swift would close the second quarter with a layup; the Yellowjackets would lead 30-19.

Quarter 3: Graceland 11 | Missouri Valley 12
Missouri Valley would add four points to work to close their gap to seven points (30-23). Heaven Mbaruk would halt their run from a layup and a charity stripe. Graceland pushed an 8-2 run; baskets from Alana Swift, Janiyah Davis, Trinity Greenwood, and Mbaruk. The Vikings would drain a last-second jumper to end the third quarter (41-31).

Quarter 4: Graceland 23 | Missouri Valley 17
Heaven Mbaruk would start the final quarter from the line (43-31). Alana Swift and Janiyah Davis would follow, sinking both their baskets (47-33). The Yellowjackets would continue to add to their advantage with baskets from Camry Dillie, Avery Walker-Henry, Trinity Greenwood, and Bryanna Griffiths. Graceland would hold their lead over Missouri Valley and take the 64-48 victory.
