Women’s Basketball Defeated by MidAmerica

Lamoni, Iowa. - The Graceland University Women's Basketball team took on the MidAmerica Nazarene University Pioneers. The Yellowjackets were defeated by the Pioneers, 89-71. Moving to 6-8 on the season and 4-6 in the Heart

Quarter 1: Graceland 22 | MidAmerica 29
The Pioneers would get a swift start, adding an 18-2 lead; a jumper by Avery Walker-Henry would add Graceland's first point. Walker-Henry would push a six-point jump from a layup, followed by free throws from Janiyah Davis and Bryanna Griffiths from the deep (22-12). Moments later, a Heaven Mbaruk layup would start a 10-point jump, baskets from Sophia Rodriguez (five points) and Griffith (three points). MidAmerica would close the first quarter leading by seven points, 29-22.

Quarter 2: Graceland 14 | MidAmerica 20
MidAmerica would break the scoreless first two minutes of play from the deep. Avery Walker-Henry would pause the run, followed by Alana Swift, who made baskets from the line (32-26). The Pioneers would retaliate with a six-point jump to close the second quarter, leading 49-36.

Quarter 3: Graceland 24 | MidAmerica 19
The Yellowjackets would push and work to close their deficit to two points (58-56). Trinity Greenwood would open the run with a layup; Avery Walker-Henry, Camry Dillie, Heaven Mbaruk, Bryanna Griffiths and Janiyah Davis would contribute. The Pioneers would answer to put their lead by to eight points (68-60).

Quarter 4: Graceland 11 | MidAmerica 21
The Pioneers would continue to add to their lead, holding the Yellowjackets, and would take the 89-71 victory.
