Women’s Basketball Halted by Peru State

Peru, Neb. - The Graceland University Women's Basketball team took on the Peru State College Bobcats. The Yellowjackets were defeated the Bobcats, 77-73. Moving to 6-7 on the season and 4-5 in the Heart

Graceland (6-7, 4-5) | Peru State (7-7, 4-6)
Quarter 1: Graceland 24 | Peru State 13
The Yellowjackets would get on the board first with an Avery Walker-Henry layup, and would pull an 8-0 lead early; points from Alana Swift and Heaven Mbaruk. The Bobcats would close the gap to one point (14-13), and Sophia Rodriquez would sink a basket from the deep to stop the run. Swift and Mbaruk would add back-to-back layups to push an 11-point lead over Peru State (24-13).

Quarter 2: Graceland 11 | Peru State 19
Peru would open the second quarter with a jumper and a layup. Heaven Mbaruk would halt the run with a layup (26-17), and Bryanna Griffiths would add a three-pointer (29-17). Peru would answer with an eight-point run and close the gap to four points (29-25). The Bobcats would close the second quarter by sinking a three-pointer, and Graceland would lead heading into the half 35-32.

Quarter 3: Graceland 21 | Peru State 21
The Bobcats would start the third period sinking one from the line and from the deep to trade the lead, 36-35. Heaven Mbaruk would retake the lead with a layup, followed by an Avery Henry-Walker layup (42-38). Bryanna Griffiths would close the third quarter draining a jumper; Graceland would lead 56-53.

Quarter 4: Graceland 17 | Peru State 24
Peru State would take the lead from an eight-point collection (62-58), and Camry Dillie would break the run with a layup. The Bobcats would retake their lead and hold it with just under three minutes remaining to take the 77-73 victory.
