Women’s Basketball Halted by Missouri Valley

Marshall, Mo. - The Graceland University Women's Basketball team traveled to take on the Missouri Valley College Vikings. The Yellowjackets were defeated by the Vikings, 71-70. Moving to 3-2 on the season and 1-0 in the Heart

Quarter 1: Graceland 14 | Missouri Valley 8
The Yellowjackets would get on the board first with an Avery Walker-Henry jumper. They would continue to work an 8-0 lead; points from Alana Swift (four points). The Vikings would sink their first points of the first half with just under four minutes remaining and close the gap to even the score (8-8). Camry Dillie would sink a charity strip to pull the edge, and Swift (layup) and Dillie (three-pointer) would take a five-point lead heading into the second quarter.

Quarter 2: Graceland 10 | Missouri Valley 18
Halfway through the quarter, the Vikings would lead with a three-pointer (19-17); Heaven Mbaruk would cut their run and even the score with a jumper. A five-point run from Missouri Valley would give them the edge heading into the half-time leading by four-point (26-24).

Quarter 3: Graceland 12 | Missouri Valley 19
Alana Swift would open the second half with a jumper to tie the game (26-26). The Viking would answer with an eight-point run (34-26); Heaven Mbaruk would break the run with a jumper. Missouri Valley would sink a jumper to close the third quarter, leading by nine points (45-36).

Janiyah Davis would sink a jumper to push the Yellowjackets to a basket collection; points Heaven Mbaruk, Alana Swift. The Vikings would hold their lead over the Yellowjackets to take the 61-52 victory.
