Women’s Basketball Conquered Hastings

Hasting, Neb. - The Graceland University Women's Basketball team traveled to take on the Hastings College Broncos. The Yellowjackets defeated the Broncos, 73-59. Moving to 2-1 on the season.

Graceland (2-1) | Hastings (2-1)
Quarter 1: Graceland 20 | Hastings 9
Graceland would add a fast 5-0 lead, points from Kymani Freeman and Heaven Mbaruk. The Yellowjackets would add a ten-point advantage with points from Mbaruk (four points) and Sophia Rodriguez (three points). The Broncos would find a five-point jump to close their deficit (12-7), Claudinae Hurt would break their run with a jumper. The Yellowjackets would head into the second quarter leading by 11 with back-to-back threes from Rodriguez and Camry Dillie.

Quarter 2: Graceland 12 | Hastings 17
Both teams would sink baskets. The Broncos would find their offensive front to push an 8-2 run to close the gap to six points (30-24). Hastings would keep the six-point gap heading into the half, 32-26)

Quarter 3: Graceland 21 | Hastings 19
Janiyah Davis would start the second half off with a layup. Hastings would answer moments later with a layup and close the gap to two points (43-41). The Yellowjackets would work to an eight-point lead (53-45) from Heaven Mbaruk, Avery Walker-Henry, and Alana Swift.

Quarter 4: Graceland 20 | Hastings 14
The Yellowjackets would continue their offensive push, adding a 10-1 rally to lead 66-56. The Yellowjackets would hold the Broncos and have an advantage of 14 points. The game would end with two made charity stripes by Janiyah Davis for a 73-59 victory.
