Women’s Basketball Taken Down by Midland in Close Matchup

Hasting, Neb. - The Graceland University Women's Basketball team traveled to take on the Midland University Warriors. The Yellowjackets were defeated by the Warriors, 62-55. Moving to 1-1 on the season.

Graceland (1-1) | Midland (1-2)
Quarter 1: Graceland 10 | Midland 14
Camry Dillie would sink the first basket of the game. Both teams stayed competitive, trading the lead continuously. Graceland would see baskets from Heaven Mbaruk, Alana Swift, Avery Walker-Henry and Bryanna Griffiths. The Warriors would find the first lead, adding a scoring run of four to take the advantage.

Quarter 2: Graceland 13 | Midland 14
Graceland would close their deficit to one point from Sophia Rodriguez's layup and Alana Swift's charity stripes (15-14). Midland would add a five-point jump late in the quarter (24-16). The Yellowjackets would retaliate to add their own five-point jump (24-21): Avery Walker-Henry and Rodriguez. Midland would lead heading into the half, 28-23.

Quarter 3: Graceland 13| Midland 12
Graceland would work to close the deficit, and a late three-pointer from Bryanna Griffith would even the score, 34-34. The Warriors would answer with their own basket from the deep and retake a two-point lead.

Quarter 4: Graceland 19 | Midland 22
The Warriors would enter the fourth quarter on the offensive to take a 9-0 scoring run, which would be broken by a Janiyah Davis three-pointer (55-42). Late in the quarter, Kymani Freeman pushed a five-point jump and ended the game 62-55.
