Rodeo Completes Fall Season at Blue Hawk Stampede

LAMONI - The Graceland University Rodeo team wrapped up their inaugural fall season this past week at the Blue Hawk Stampede in Dickinson, North Dakota. The Stampede was hosted by Dickinson State University and was held from October 1-3.

Head coach Fenton Nelson commented, "As our traveling season comes to an end, I am pleased with our success to this point and thank everyone for their support of the team."

Graceland's biggest highlight from the weekend was Grant Gansmer winning the steer wrestling event. Grant earned 180 points, the most points available for the weekend. He made two great runs with a time of 4.3 seconds in the long round and 4.6 seconds in the short round to earn the best average.

With the win, Grant is currently sitting in second place in the entire region in steer wrestling. In barrel racing, Jamie Stackhouse placed in the top 20 out of 103 total racers. She made two good runs in the goat tying event as well, but just missed the short round.

Mackenzie Evans had a great run in the breakaway roping to earn 4th place with a time of 3.1 seconds. She also placed in the top 20 in the event.

Nelson added, "We will continue to practice in preparation for the spring season as we are schedule to have four more rodeos at the moment."
