Bio

Drew Sams enters his second year as Assistant Coach at Graceland University. Sams began his coaching career after a stellar collegiate wrestling career at GU.

During his first season coaching, Sams made a significant contribution to the Graceland Wrestling program including, but not limited to:

• NAIA All-American, 2 NAIA National Qualifiers
• 2 Graceland Male Athlete of the Year honors

Sams finished his career as one of the most decorated wrestlers in Graceland University history. He garnered All-American honors in 2021 with a 4^th place finish at 184lbs. He consistently saw national success reaching Top 12 in the country all 4 years competing for the Yellowjackets. Along with those accolades, he nearly holds all school career records highlighted by an impressive 94 career wins. Drew was also a 3-year team captain showcasing leadership skills and helping build a culture of success culminating in a 9^th place finish at the 2021 NAIA National Championship.

Prior to GU, Drew attended Oskaloosa High School where he was an Iowa State Medalist.

Drew is originally from Oskaloosa, Iowa and currently resides in Lamoni, Iowa with his fiancé, Rachel.
