Wrestling Halted by St. Ambrose in Close Battle

Lamoni, Iowa – The Graceland University Wrestling team hosted the St. Ambrose University Fighting Bees. The Yellowjackets were defeated by the Fighting Bees, 18-17 and move to 2-1 on the season.

Starting the Yellowjackets off for the night in the 125 lbs weight class, Robert Albert took on the Fighting Bees Steele Dias. Dias would take the first match by decision (6-3), starting the contest at 3-0.

In the following weight class, 133 lbs, TJ Smith (GU) would step to the mat against Isaac Martinez (SAU). The Yellowjackets would take the class by major decision (12-3) and the lead, the score now 4-3

Graceland would add their second win by major decision (13-1) in the 141-weight class matchup of Graceland's Jackson Wenberg and St. Ambrose's Guiseppe Guerra. The score is now 8-3.

Zack Wicks of Graceland would win by decision over Reese Finch of St. Ambrose in the 149 lbs weight class. Wicks brought the contest to 12-3.

The following weight class, 157 lbs, would feature freshman Braiden Beane in his first college appearance and Joshua Zeman. Zeman would take the class by decision (6-2). The score now 11-6.

In the 165 lbs weight class, Graceland's Jett Nelson would follow next with his own victory in his first over St. Ambrose Diego Machado by a major decision (4-3). The score now 14-6.

Joseph Teguia (GU) would step up to take on Jayden Terronez (SAU). The Fighting Bees Terronez would win by decision (4-0) in the 174 lbs weight class, shifting the score to 14-9.

In the following weight class, 184, Dylan Meiners (SAU) would take the class over KJ Fry (GU) by pin (second period 00:39). The score now 14-15.

At the 197 lbs weight class, John Schuttler (GU) would take the class by decision (10-6) over Tyler Casey (SAU). The score now 17-15.

The final weight class of the night featured Graceland's Sam Fleming and St. Ambrose's Jeremiah Morris. Morris would take the class by decisions (6-3). The Fighting Bees would take the 18-17 victory.
