Men’s Volleyball Held up by Missouri Valley
Lamoni, Iowa. – The Graceland University Men's Volleyball team took on the Missouri Valley College Vikings. The Yellowjackets were defeated by the Vikings, 3-0. Moving to 4-19 on the season and are 2-14 in the Heart.
Set 1: Graceland 19 | Missouri Valley 25
Both teams come out competitively trading points. Graceland would take a point lead from a three-run rally (8-7), starting with Isaac Elliott's kill, followed by a block from Malakai Christian and a Thomas Weseloh kill. The Vikings would respond with a four-point jump. Later in the set-off, a Sam Johnson serve Graceland would even the score (14-14); Christian (kill), blocks from Kahoopii and Malakai Christian and a Johnson ace. The Vikings would work in an offensive push to take the lead and hold it for set one.
Set 2: Graceland 21 | Missouri Valley 25
Missouri Valley would open for a 7-1 lead. A Malakai Christian kill would pause the run (7-2). Graceland would have a late set push to close the gap to two points (20-18). Thomas Weseloh. Christian, Mana Kahoopii, Hansen Salausa-Kaawa, Sonny Tofi, and Aiden Martinez would contribute. The Vikings would regain their lead and hold off the Yellowjackets for the second set.
Set 3: Graceland 20 | Missouri Valley 25
Both teams opened to trade points. The Vikings would l lead by two (13-11). The Yellowjackets would push a four-point just to take the lead (15-13), started by the Sonny Tofi kill. Missouri Valley would respond with their own run to regain the lead (16-15). The Vikings would push an advantage and hold their lead for the third set. Graceland would see kills from Tofi, Hansen Salausa-Kaawa, Thomas Weseloh, Malakai Christian, and Mana Kahoopii.
