Men’s Volleyball Defeated by Missouri Baptist
St. Louis, Mo. – The Graceland University Men's Volleyball team took on the Missouri Baptist University Spartans. The Yellowjackets were defeated by the Spartans, 3-0. Moving to 4-16 on the season and are 2-11 in the Heart.
Set 1: Graceland 13 | Missouri Baptist 25
Both teams opened up competitive, Graceland would find a 4-2 lead; points form Sonny Tofi and blocks by Hansen Salausa-Kaawa and Sam Johnson. The Spartans would even the score with a three-point jump. The rally would be broken by a Salausa-Kaawa kill. Missouri Baptist would answer with a 5-1-point rally and take the lead (12-8); a kill from Sonny Tofi would break the run. Graceland would see kills later in the set from Thomas Weseloh. The Spartans would hold their lead and take the first set.
Set 2: Graceland 18 | Missouri Baptist 25
Graceland would come put hot and take a 5-1 lead, Sony Tofi would kick off the scoring with a kill. The Spartans would push a 6-1 rally to event the score, Sam Johnson would break their run with a kill from Sean Malaki. Missouri Baptist would push to lead by five points (19-12); Johnson would break the rally with a kill. Kalanikapu Aona would kill to push a Yellowjacket run to close the gap to six. Missouri Baptist would steal the last point for set two.
Set 3: Graceland 22 | Missouri Baptist 25
Missouri Baptist would lead early with an 8-4 score. A five-point run by the Yellowjackets would push them in the lead by one; kills from Kalanikapu Aona, and Sonny Tofi (kill), and blocks from Hansen Salausa-Kaawa, Aona and Tofi. The Spartans retook their lead, 15-12. Graceland would add a 6-1 run to take a two-point lead (18-16); points from Thomas Weseloh (kills), and Andrew Cziep (ace). Missouri Baptist would retake the lead and hold it for the third set.
