Men’s Volleyball Takes Three Straight Sets for the Victory over Clarke
Dubuque, Iowa – The Graceland University Men's Volleyball team took on the Clarke University Pride. The Yellowjackets defeated the Pride, 3-2. Moving to 4-13 on the season and are 2-9 in the Heart.
Set 1: Graceland 15 | Clarke 25
Clarke came out hot to lead 15-5 early. Graceland broke a late run with blocks from Hansen Salausa-Kaawa and Andrew Cziep, followed by a kill from Cziep. The Pride snatched the two remaining points.
Set 2: Graceland 18 | Clarke 25
Clarke would start with a rally to lead by four (9-5). A kill from Andrew Cziep would break the run. The Pride would answer to push a 5-1 run (14-8). Malakai Christian and Isaac Elliott would add back-to-back points from kills. A kill from Hansen Salausa-Kaawa would push for a Yellowjacket four-point rally; points from Sam Johnson (kill), Thomas Weseloh (ace) and Salausa-Kaawa (block). The Pride would steal the last two points from set two.
Set 3: Graceland 25 | Clarke 21
Clarke would have a 10-10 lead early. Graceland would answer to push a five-point rally to even the score: points from Aiden Martinez (kill and ace), Sam Johnson (kill), and blocks by Johnson and Malakai Christian. Johnson would snatch four points from the Yellowjackets to take a two-point lead, adding one block and three aces. Graceland would see kills from Kalanikapu Aona and Thomas Weseloh. The Yellowjackets would hold their lead to take set three.
Set 4: Graceland 25 | Clarke 18
Clarke would come out hot to lead 3-7. Graceland would trail by two 8-6 and add four points to take the lead; a block by Hansen Salausa-Kaawa and a kill from Aiden Martinez would contribute, followed by an Axel Rasquero kill and a Logan Book ace. The Pride would close the gap to trail by two points. Graceland would hold their lead with points from Malakai Christian, and Thomas Weseloh would contribute. Sam Johnson would close

The Men's Volleyball team be back on Saturday, March 23, when they travel to compete in the MMU Triangular. They will take on the Mount Mercy University Mustangs, game time set for 12:00 pm. They will take on the Morningside College Broncos at 2:00 pm.
