Men’s Volleyball Taken down by UHSP
Lamoni, Iowa. – The Graceland University Men's Volleyball team took on the University of Science Health and Pharmacy Eutectics. The Yellowjackets defeated by the Eutectics, 3-1. Moving to 3-13 on the season and are 1-9 in the Heart.
Set 1: Graceland 27 | UHSP 29
Malakai Christian took the first two points from kills, assisted by Sean Malaki. Both teams traded points. The Eutectics would push a three-point jump to even the score at 10-10. Graceland added a two-point lead from a Hansen Salausa-Kaawa kill (13-15). Later, the Yellowjackets came from behind to even the score with an Isaac Elliott and Sonny Tofi kill (21-21). UHSP snatched the remaining three points for the first set.
Set 2: Graceland 25 | UHSP 22
Graceland would work from ahead with a 3-0 lead early; Sonny Tofi (kill) and Isaac Elliott (block) contributed. Followed by another three-point jump, Elliott would get his second solo block (11-8). Later in the set, a kill from Malakai Christian would push a four-point jump, Christian would find a second kill, Sam Johnson aced, and Elliott killed. Hansen Salausa-Kaawa would close the set with a solo block for set point.
Set 3: Graceland 20 | UHSP 25
UHSP would come out on first to create an early 9-4 lead. Graceland would work a three-point rally to close the deficit to two points; kills from Andrew Cziep and Hansen Salausa-Kaawa and a Sonny Tofi ace. The Eutectics would hold their offensive push and take the third set.
Set 4: Graceland 23 | UHSP 25
The Eutectics continued their offensive game in the fourth quarter to lead 4-0. Late in the set, Graceland would push a five-point jump to close the gap to one point, kills from Andrew Cziep and Malakai Christian, and three blocks from Aiden Martinez and Christian. UHSP would snatch the remaining two points to take the fourth set.
