Men’s Volleyball Takes Down Culver-Stockton
Canton, Mo. – The Graceland University Men's Volleyball team took on the Culver-Stockton Wildcats. The Yellowjackets defeated the Wildcats, 3-1. Moving to 3-11 on the season and are 1-7 in the Heart.
Set 1: Graceland 21 | Culver-Stockton 25
Graceland took a two-point lead, with kills from Hansen Salausa-Kaawa and Sam Johnson (10-8). The Wildcats answered to put back-to-back points up (15-13) and moments later added a four-point run (18-13); a kill from Thomas Weseloh would break the run. Culver-Stockton held their lead to take the first set.
Set 2: Graceland 25 | Culver-Stockton 23
A kill by Malakai Christian would open the second set. Both teams would trade points. Graceland would pull a three-point lead with points from Thomas Weseloh (kill) and Isaac Elliott (two aces) (14-1). The Yellowjackets would push a four-point rally to create a five-point advantage, with points from Hansen Salausa-Kaawa (kill) and blocks from Salausa-Kaawa and Weseloh (23-18). The Wildcats would close the gap to one point, and a kill from Sam Johnson would end the second set.
Set 3: Graceland 25 | Culver-Stockton 21
Graceland would close their two-point deficit and take the lead (11-10), kills from Sam Johnson and Malakai Christian and blocks by Christian and Andrew Cziep. Culver-Stockton would even the score, and Christian would shut the run down with a kill (14-13). Graceland would snatch four of the remaining six points for the third set, kills from Christian, Hansen Salausa-Kaawa, Isaac Elliott and Tomas Weseloh.
Set 4: Graceland 25 | Culver-Stockton 19
Graceland would pull a 7-3 advantage; points from Malakai Christian (ace and a block), Sam Johnson (block), Thomas Weseloh (block), Isaac Elliott (kill) and Hansen Salausa-Kaawa (block). The Wildcats would find a four-point jump to close their deficit to one point; a kill by Elliott would break their run. Graceland would hold their advantage to take the final set.
