Men’s Volleyball Halted in Conference Opener to UHSP
St. Louis, Mo. – The Graceland University Men's Volleyball team took on the University of Science and Pharmacy Eutectic in the conference opener. The Yellowjackets were defeated by the Eutectics, 3-0. Moving to 2-3 on the season and are 0-1 in the Heart.
Game 1: Graceland (2-3; 0-1) vs. UHSP (6-0; 1-0)
Set 1: Graceland 18| UHSP 25
The Eutectic would add an early lead of 4-1. Kills from Isaac Elliott and Sonny Tofi would bring the Yellowjackets down by one. Later in the set Graceland would add a 5-2 run; kills from Elliott, Tofi, and Kalanikapu Aona and blocks form Thomas Weslow, Andrew Cziep and Tofi (17-15). UHSP would answer to put up five points (23-16). The Eutectic would hold their lead and take the first set.
Set 2: Graceland 15 | UHSP 25
Pharmacy would push an 8-1 rally; a kill by Andrew Cziep from Sean, would break the run (8-2). A kill from Sonny Tonfi would push a three-point rally; Thomas Weslow and Kalanikapu Anoa, from the serve by Isaac Elliott. The Eutectic would answer with a four-point jump (17-8). Pharmacy would hold their lead to take the second set.
Set 3: Graceland 22 | UHSP 25
Graceland would come out and take a 5-2 lead; kills from Thomas Weslow, Sam Johnson, Andrew Cziep and blocks form Weslow and Cziep. The Eutectics would follow for an 8-1 run; a kill from Isaac Elliott would break the run (10-7). Graceland would retaliate for a 10-4 rally to take a two-point lead (18-12); points from Elliott (ace), Benedikt Zauner (ace)Thomas Weslow (two kills), Andrew Cziep (kill). The Eutecic would put four up to even the score 18-18 and later would push a five-point jump to take the third set.
