Men’s Volleyball Falls to the Pride
Lamoni, Iowa – The Graceland University Men's Volleyball took on the Clarke University Pride and were defeated, 3-0. The Yellowjackets move to 3-10 on the season and 1-8 in conference play.
Graceland (3-10; 1-8) vs. Clarke (6-9; 3-7)
Set 1: Graceland 27 | Clarke 29
Graceland got points on the board first with a kill by Nicodemus Elliott and would create their lead with a kill from Will Simmers and an ace by Sam Johnson. The Pride would answer to even the match (6-6). Both teams would trade points. The Yellowjackets would reach 20 points first, creating a five-point lead from the ace by N. Elliott (20-15). Clarke would answer to close the gap with a 6-1 scoring run (22-22). Both teams would work to take the lead; they would tie five times. A Pride block would give them the set point, and a kill would give them the set.
Set 2: Graceland 22 | Clarke 25
The Yellowjackets would pull an early 14-9 lead over the Pride; kills from Rylon Raczka, Sonny Tofi, Jeremiah Ta'amu, Will Simmers, and a block from Nicodemus Elliott would contribute. The Pride would answer with a 5-0 scoring jump (14-15). Tofi would break their run with a kill. Clarke would snatch six of the remaining ten points for the second set.
Set 3: Graceland 18 | Clarke 25
Graceland came out first to snatch the first lead of the third set, 6-4. The Pride would work to close their gap and would even it up six times; Clarke would answer with a seven-point jump, but the run was broken by a Nicodemus Elliott kill. The Yellowjackets would push to close their gap to three (17-20), kills from Jeremiah Ta'amu and the service of Sam Johnson. The Pride would hold onto their lead to take the set.
