Men’s Volleyball Sweeps at the Graceland Triangular

Lamoni, Iowa – The Graceland University Men's Volleyball team competed in the Graceland Triangular, taking on University of Health Science and Pharmacy Eutectics and the Kansas Wesleyan University Coyotes. Graceland swept both teams 3-0 and move to 3-7 on the season.

Game 1: Graceland (2-7) vs. University of Health Science and Pharmacy (1-10)
Set 1: Graceland 25 | UHSP
UHSP would create the first advantage of the set to lead by five (8-13). A kill from Sonny Tofi would break the run and set the Yellowjackets on their own run. The Graceland 11-1 run would bring their advantage to five: kills from Isaac Elliott, Will Simmers, and the service of Jeremiah Ta'amu would contribute (19-14). The Eutectics would close their gap to three (24-21). Malakai Christian would end the set with a kill.
Set 2: Graceland 25 | UHSP 19
The Yellowjackets set in their groove would push their advantage to five with a 7-1 scoring run; Jeremiah Ta'amu would kill five of the seven points (8-3). Graceland would find another five-point jump; Sam Johnson contributed from his serves (13-5). Both teams would go point for point. Graceland would lead by seven heading into the final five points; they would hold their lead for the second set.
Set 3: Graceland 28 | I UHSP 26
Both teams continued in their groove, working point for point. The Yellowjackets would find the first lead of the third set with an 8-1 run (18-11); Nicodemus Elliott, Isaac Elliott, and Jeremiah Ta'amu would contribute. The Eutectics would answer with their own 9-2 run to even the score 20-20; the score would tie again at 26-26 - UHSP trailed. Kills from both I. Elliott and Ta'amu would end the game for a Yellowjacket sweep.

Game 2: Graceland (3-7) vs. Kansas Wesleyan (5-8)
Set 1: Graceland 25 | Kansas Wesleyan 11
The Coyotes found a two-point lead first (3-5); the Yellowjackets would answer to get an 8-2-point jump and would lead by four (11-7). Isaac Elliott, Jeremiah Ta'amu, Nicodemus Elliott and Will Simmers contributed. Graceland would push for another run with a seven-point collection from the consecutive serves by Logan Book (19-9) to create a ten-point lead. Graceland would cash in the remaining five points from the service of Devan Ramsey, and a kill from Ta'amu would end the set.
Set 2: Graceland 25 | Kansas Wesleyan 17
Kansas Wesleyan found a two-point lead; a kill by Will Simmers would break their run (8-7).
Both teams would work, and the Coyotes would even the score 12-12. Malakai Christian would push the Yellowjackets to a five-point jump (17-12). Graceland would snatch six of the eight remaining points to take the second set.
Set 3: Graceland 25 | Kansas Wesleyan 20
The Yellowjackets would continue in their groove, and the Coyotes would close their deficit to one (15-14). A kill from Isaac Elliott would send the Yellowjackets to increase their lead, with a 6-1 scoring run (21-15). Graceland would hold their advantage and end the third set with a kill by Jeremiah Ta'amu.
