Men’s Basketball Conquered William Penn

Lamoni, Iowa - The Graceland University RV Men's Basketball team took on the William Penn University Statesmen. The Yellowjackets defeated the Statesmen, 112-83. Graceland move to 12-3 and are 9-2 in the conference.

Half 1: Graceland 51 | William Penn 26
Within the first 30 seconds of the game, Aleksa Markovic would sink a basket from the arches and push a 13-2 run; points from Carson Busch, Darrius Davis and Markovic. The Yellowjackets would find a 16-point lead over the Statesmen 24-8; Carter Brown, Austin Braun, JY Smith, and Akeen Woods would contribute. William Penn would add two from the line, and Graceland would answer by adding six points for a 20-point lead; Davis and Markovic would add points. With a Braun, Woods and Amitai Afenjar work a 28-point advantage (47-19). The Statesmen would add five to close their deficit to 23 points, and Braun would answer to close the first half and put Graceland ahead 51-26.

Half 2: Graceland 61 | William Penn 57
The Statesmen would open the second half, draining a layup (51-28). Austin Braun and Patrick Fisher would set a four-point jump moments later (55-28). Graceland would continue to add to their advantage with an 11-2 run (76-45), points from Carter Brown, Fisher, JY Smith and Akeen Woods. The Yellowjackets would hold their largest lead over the Statesmen of 40 points from a Griffin Haugh layup. Graceland would see baskets from JT Washington, Mario Johnson, Julius Raudonius, and Sylvester Union. William Penn would add a late run of 11 points to close the game with a Graceland 112-83 victory.
